Premiere: February 2nd 2017
“The Rope”, the theatrical “room thriller” by Patrick Hamilton, became popular and loved after being turned into a film by the expert in the genre, Alfred Hitchcock. The play, which is inspired by the true event of the murder of a 14-year-old student by his classmates in 1924, is here to remind us that men are born with the gift of contradiction – they are born to die, but their main instinct is that of survival.
Two friends murder one of their classmates, motivated by their desire to experience the feeling of a perfect murder, and proceed to hide the body in a trunk and organize a morbid party around the Body – Altar of the deceased. Among the guests are the victim’s father, his fiancée, her ex-boyfriend and their intelligent professor. A strange challenging – maypole with powerful dialogues and deep timeless philosophical questions.
“The Rope” is becoming a theatrical play on the stage of theater Argo.
A psychological thriller, which through the glow of celebration, feeds into the absolute darkness, focusing on indifference and its consequences on society and putting arrogance at the epicenter of its self-examination, which keeps overtaking human existence.
